Jobs to do in the garden in September
We have had some hot weather so keep plants watered.
  • Plants are looking tired this time of year so feed them and change your bedding plants for more colours.
  • Plant spring flowering bulbs like daffodils and crocus.
  • Take pictures of the garden to remind you of what you did this year.
  • Turn over the compost waste in your compost bin.
  • Keep spraying with a fungicide and pick off any diseased leaves and dead flowers.
  • Now is a good time to plant vegetable plants like carrots, leeks, cabbages and brussels ready to pick in the spring.
  • Remove dead wood off fruit trees like apple and cherries.
  • Remove any rotten fruit off your plants to stop the diseases.
  • Protect your fruit bushes from birds by putting a net over the top.
Keep on gardening.
